Zaljeveni kolac sa narancom i šafranom / Orange and Saffron Syrup Cake




Prema ovom receptu bila sam poprilicno skepticna iz razloga jer sadrzi dosta ulja. No jos sam vise bila znatizeljna glede kombinacije narance i safrana i naravno da sam ga morala isprobati. Najbolji je kada odstoji dan, dva i posluzi se potpuno hladan. Dodatak safrana daje mu specifican stih i odlicno se slaze sa narancom.



Zaljeveni kolac sa narancom i šafranom

  • 100 g ljesnjaka
  • 50 g palente / griza
  • 175 g secera
  • 1 1/2 zlicica praska za pecivo
  • 2 narance
  • 4 jaja
  • 200 ml maslinovog ulja
  • prstohvat safranovih niti
  • 80 g secera

Pomijesajte przene mljevene ljesnjake, griz, secer i prasak za pecivo. Pomijesajte jaja, ulje i ribanu koricu jedne narance. Lagano izmiksajte i dodajte suhe sastojke. Pecite oko 30 min na 180C ( ja sam koristila kalup 20*30 cm). 
U medjuvremenu pripremite preljev. Tanko ogulite povrsinski sloj korice narance ( izostaviti bijeli dio) i narezite na tanke trakice. Pomijesajte sa iscijedjenim sokom obadvije narance, 80 g secera i safranom. Prokuhajte i nastavite lagano kuhati jos oko 4,5 min. Topal kolac zalijte toplim sirupom. Dobro ohladite i posluzite.

Orange and Saffron Syrup Cake


  • 100g roasted hazelnuts, ground
  • 50g semolina or polenta
  • 175g sugar
  • 1½ t baking powder
  • 2 oranges
  • 4 eggs
  • 200ml light olive oil
  • generous pinch saffron threads
  • 85g sugar

Combine hazelnuts, semolina, sugar and baking powder. Grate the zest from 1 orange and combine with the eggs and oil. Mix and then fold in the dry ingredients. Pour the mixture into the prepared tin and bake for 35 min on 180C, until risen and firm to the touch. 
In the meantime, prepare the syrup. Pare the zest from the other orange and cut into very thin shreds. Put in a saucepan with the juice from both oranges, the saffron and sugar. Bring to the boil, then simmer gently for 5 mins.
Pour warm syrup over warm cake. Cool overnight in the fridge and serve.
